World’s Most Nutritious Quiche Made With Chia Seeds And Bitter Gourd

You may have already heard of chia seeds as a must-eat, highly nutritious food that falls into the so-called superfood category. That said, these seeds are low in carbs, moderately high in protein, and very high in fat, making them really useful for keto-style dieters.

The beauty of the chia seeds,…

So, it is considered a very satisfying food. And the price is affordably cheap compared to other expensive nuts and seeds, and it is easy to store for quite a long time.

Anyway, I love the taste and texture of chia seeds, whether they are superfoods or not, so I use them in a variety of food recipes. For example, it is great to add to cakes, bread, pies, muffins, cookies, biscuits, and chewy rice cakes, and even sauces and savory dishes,…?? ????

In this post, I show you how to make the world’s most nutritious and uniquely delicious quiche with chia seeds as the main ingredient. As a side ingredient, I add two of my favorite vegetables as well. One is bitter gourd and the other is sweet potato. Obviously as the name implies, the bitter gourd gives a bitter taste and sweet potato gives a sweet taste. So, while eating quiche, you will feel how different the two opposing tastes are, at the same time you will be surprised at how deliciously they go together.

This may sound strange, but it’s not really weird either. Already, we are consuming foods with opposite tastes, and there are many people who are quite addicted to such foods sold in the supermarkets, but they may not be aware of them at all.

So we’ve already gotten used to it and it’s not strange anymore, but it’s still a crazy flavor combination, for example: pancakes or donuts with maple syrup and bacon bits and sauces, sweet and spicy chicken waffle sandwich, gorgonzola cheese pizza or pies with honey drizzled, salted caramel cheesecake, chips, muffins or donuts etc.

There must be a lot of foods being promoted in the market that are created with such a strange combination of flavors whether you are aware of them or not, but I will stop here.

Instead, I’m happy to show you how to make quiche, one of the easiest and most delicious foods to make, into a delicious hearty dish that naturally combines two opposing flavors: ‘bitter’ and ‘sweet’.

That said, quiche is a food that can be easily made using a variety of food ingredients at any time. So to me, quiche isn’t a big deal at all. In fact, in Korea, steamed egg(??? Gyeran-jjim ) is a food that is comparable to this quiche.

The only difference between quiche and steamed egg is that quiche is a Western-style food that originated in France and is oven-baked cheesy savory food, whereas Korean steamed egg is loved by Koreans who make it in a rice cooker or steamer and eat this almost every day. In addition, more than 80% of Korean traditional recipes are made by steaming various foods, and among them, chewy rice cake, a representative Korean dessert ‘? (Tteok)’, is a good example.

I prepared one cup of chia seeds and about half a cup each of bitter gourd and sweet potato. I was thinking of making my own round and long sweet potato chips on the same day and eating them as a snack for beer, so I cut about a half kilo into two shapes and used only some of them to make quiche.

First, beat 4 eggs into 1 cup of fresh milk, then add 1 cup of chia seeds and mix evenly. The chia seeds absorb the moisture of milk and eggs, making them bulky and have a texture that hardens in an instant.

Add chopped bitter gourd and sweet potato to this. Then, grind 100g of aged cheddar cheese with a grater and put it in the mixture to incorporate the cheese evenly.

And lastly
Add a tablespoon of rosemary herbs and a pinch of salt and mix gently.

Prepare two round baking molds about 20 centimeters in diameter. And lightly grease with butter. I divide the above mixed ingredients equally in these two molds. Then, scoop up a spoonful of almond slices, sprinkle generously on top, and press lightly with a spoon.

Bake in an oven preheated to 200 degrees for about 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, leave in the oven for 20 minutes to cook more slowly. Then take it out of the oven and let it cool slightly at room temperature.

I really love the flowery scent of rosemary that spreads throughout the house while baking. And the rich and earthy scent of bitter gourd pokes my nose, and the sweet scent of sweet potato adds to my mouth watering quickly.

In the meantime, I’m busy taking pictures of this beautiful quiche, but I can’t wait any longer, so I stop taking pictures and cut my quiche like a triangular cake shape and place it on a plate. In fact, the almond slices roasted on top of quiche create a very luxurious and savory taste and fantastic visuals overall.

How does it taste then? ??????

The combination of flavors, which seems impossible to find in this world, is so fantastically delicious that it is difficult to describe in words. The taste is bitter, light, savory, and slightly salty thanks to the cheddar cheese. The texture is moist, silky and soft, it melts in my mouth.

I am proud to have created such a gorgeous looking quiche by using some of my favorite ingredients. I am simply fascinated by the idea of combining the so-called superfood chia seeds, bitter gourd and sweet potatoes with eggs, cheese and rosemary to create a delicious quiche that no one has ever tried or heard of.

Give it a try! ??

More importantly, it is very nutritious, healthy and natural from every possible angle. You’re going to love this unique and delicious quiche you’ve never had before. ????

Super moist, silky and nutty quiche!
