Delicious Lamb Kebabs And Mandi Rice at Arabica restaurant, Kota Damansara

One of the tastiest Arabic meals our family enjoyed in the Kota Damansara neighborhood where we now live apart from the Yemeni restaurants we’ve always been to in the past in Serdang and Sri kembangan.

As the name of the restaurant “Arabica Restaurant” suggests, I feel like I can eat delicious Arabic style food.

The cozy atmosphere of Ramadan and a bit of comfortable lighting allowed us to focus on the night festivities happily despite the harsh rain and thunder outside when we were there.

My favorite food is arguably the freshly made hummus, followed by the so delicious grilled lamb kebabs that are juicy and flavorful.

If there was an option, I wish I could have ordered the 1-meter-long lamb kebabs. Haha!????

In particular, what makes it really appetizing and impressive is the parsley slices garnished all over my plate, even over my mandi rice. ????

And the mandi rice is so delicious, fluffy, fragrant, and smells so good. Simply amazing!

I usually don’t eat too much late in the evening, but that day was an exception and I ended up eating mandi rice with lamb kebabs all by myself. Very tasty!

And one more good thing is that there are kids items on the menu.

One kid size chicken kebab meal for my son was also great, including freshly squeezed apple juice, bread and chips.

We added Feta Cheese and Black Olives as add-ons to the main dish.

And, whenever I go to an Arabic restaurant, I add an extra order of Mulawah, my favorite Yemeni-style bread.

The Mulawah bread here were also big and delicious. In particular, the crunchy, savory, and nutty taste is excellent because it is sprinkled with sesame seeds.

We finished off with our beloved Turkish coffee infused with strong cardamom. For dessert, I ordered a semolina cake called basbousa.

It is quite sweet by soaking it in sugar or honey. Still, the almond flavor was well blended and it was really delicious with coffee.

One downside is the lamb quality on the mandi rice for the price my husband had.

My husband asked for lamb with not much bone and possibly more meat attached.

The thing is he never likes meat with bones or brittle meat.

Unfortunately, 80% of the lamb in Mandi Rice served to us was either inedible or had tough tendons attached to the bones.

Actually, we were going to order our favorite “Lamb Kabsa rice” in the first place, but by 8pm when we arrived, Ramadan Iftar time had just started, …

So unfortunately most Malaysians choose lamb before us. They said “Lamb Kabsa rice” is no longer available. So we ordered Mandi Lamb Rice instead.

So my verdict is that the quality of the lamb mandi rice is not as good as expected for RM 29.90 (US $7) of the mandi rice we ate in Malaysia, so the food itself turns out to be quite expensive. Mainly, it doesn’t really reflect the quality of the lamb meat served that we paid for.

And I think my opinion makes sense on this point.

The reason is that while traveling in Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Israel, Gaza and Turkey in 2004, I’ve always loved Middle Eastern cuisine and have been so crazy about many Arab-style dishes and juicy kebabs.

It was a pity that the menu prices were quite high, so my husband and I had unconsciously high expectations for lamb quality.

I guess that on that day, it seems that we were unlucky and got the leftover lamb bones on the plate after the Muslim folks’ iftar time had passed. ????

Next time we go, if we’re lucky, I wonder if large chunks of lamb will be served instead of the almost inedible lamb bones.

All in all, if I rate it with my personal review about Arabica restaurant, it’s 4 out of 5! ????????

Other than that, everything is great, the food, the atmosphere is really great… Keep up the good work!

So my family will definitely visit again!

I’m already drooling thinking about the juicy lamb kebabs, hummus, mullah and bread! ????????.

Maybe next time we go, we can hopefully try the flaming kebabs family set option, which will fill you up with the juicy variety of kebabs on the menu!
