Homemade Korean Doughnuts And Cheese Hotdog Story

It is very useful and convenient to keep the yeast fermented whole wheat dough frozen at home. The reason is that every time you make whole wheat dough yourselves, you have to knead, shape, and ferment that much dough that you get on your hands, but what is more troublesome is that it can be quite a big task for anyone to clean the kitchen shelf with the sticky dough left over.

Today I will make Korean style donuts. Donuts called kkwabaegi (??? Twisted doughnut or Korean pretzels) in Korea are always sold at traditional markets. I still vividly remember when I was a kid I always went there to buy and eat crispy and sweet kkwabaegi donuts with a lot of sugar coated on the outside.

Or, donuts with red bean paste inside, in the shape of a round and flat donut, also dominated my love.

Instead of making the traditional Korean pretzel shape, I’ll just make donuts in ring and round shapes. Even so, the texture and taste are the same, so I think there is no difference in the pleasure of taste in my mouth.

Again, I take out the whole wheat dough that I have frozen and stored. After defrosting at room temperature for one hour, coat again with some flour, knead the dough gently, and shape into a round shape.

Then, with a rolling pin, flatten it out by kneading it to a thickness of about 0.5 centimeters. I coat the top and bottom of the dough with plenty of flour so it doesn’t stick to the shelf.

I use the donut cutter I have at home to cut the dough into a donut shape by pressing the dough on the soft surface with the palm of my hand. Naturally, the number of donut balls remaining inside the circular ring shape created by cutting with a donut cutter increases. And I also make donuts with no holes on the inside.

I shape some of the round dough into long rectangles and wrap the outside on a wooden skewer already threaded with cheddar cheese to form a hot dog shape.

When these three shapes are ready, more than half of the task of making delicious donuts is over. ???? ????????????

From now on, all I have to do is pour plenty of clean vegetable oil into the wok. Then, after checking the boiling temperature of the oil, fry two donuts with nothing inside first, and then fry a hot dog with cheddar cheese.

One thing to always be aware of when frying donuts is that they are quickly fried in boiling oil and rise very fast. So we simply can’t take our eyes off them.

Otherwise, the donuts will be completely charred, and the house will be filled with spicy and choking smoke.

Even though I always pay attention to this part through my experience of having suffered a lot, it is not as easy as I thought. That said, the donuts cook quickly and burn.

The donuts are fried in a minute to a minute and a half, and I immediately roll them evenly in coarse white sugar. They already look absolutely delicious in sweet white clothes. If there is a lot of sugar on it, gently shake it off.

I first had the long hot dog donuts stuffed with cheddar cheese. It was because I wanted to feel the texture that the cheese melted and flowed out.

It’s really crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and if I take a big bite, the cheese melts, and the salty, chewy taste is really delicious.

The sugar-coated ring-shaped donuts and plain round donuts are moderately sweet thanks to the white sugar. Also, the dough for donuts I made by myself is well-inflated with yeast, so the texture is light and crisp. So it’s so delicious that I don’t feel like I am eating oily fried food.

We all know that eating fried foods frequently is not at all good for our health. Even worse, the various fried foods sold outside are really harmful because they use the same oil over and over again.

If you like to eat fried food occasionally like me, but prefer an honest taste, try making your own delicious donut desserts for the perfect cheat day!

You will be amazed at how easy and simple delicious donuts can be made at home. And it won’t be boring because you can fill it with a variety of fillings that you like. It’s much tastier than what’s sold out, and once made, you’ll realize that making your own with clean oil is a better choice for the health of ourselves and our loved ones. ??????
